My work is created through numerous traditional smithing techniques such as raising, cold forging, chasing and repousse

Check out my process videos below!

Raising is a physically intense process, involving hammering a flat sheet of metal over a steel stake; the metal is held at an angle and hammered in circles, eventually forming a vessel.

My forged home wares are made through the process of cold-forging. Cold-forging copper and silver involves the same techniques as forging steel, but only requires heating between each step, and does not need to be hot while hammering.

Chasing & Repoussé or repoussage is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief.
